Students from the Lethbridge High School iGEM team will be performing a variety of musical selections to help raise money for travel to the iGEM Giant Jamboree in Boston, MA. Come and support these incredible students from across the Lethbridge community! The team consists of students from Lethbridge Collegiate Institute, Chinook High School, Winston Churchill High School, and Catholic Central High School. Their iGEM project, C.A.D.A.R. – CRISPR-Assisted Detection and Removal, recently won “Best Potential Impact” award at a provincial competition. Using synthetic biology, the team hopes to help in the battle against antibiotic resistant pathogens.
The International Genetically Engineered Machines (iGEM) Giant Jamboree brings together more than 3000 teams from over 300 different countries around the world. The Lethbridge high school team is the only Canadian team to compete this year in the high school track. There will be stiff competition with over 80 high school teams also competing.
Travel to Boston and registration for the Jamboree are the team’s largest expenses. To help offset some of this cost to our students, we hope to raise money through donations and a silent auction. Please plan to attend our Music Showcase, June 29, 2019 starting at 3:00 PM in the ATB Financial Community Room at CASA. There will be refreshments, a silent auction and a chance to learn more about this year’s project.
Thank you for your support!
