U of L students attempt world record

A large group of U of L students will attempt to stuff themselves into a new Volkswagen Beetle on Friday, Oct. 19 at a community event, hoping to break a world record -- but no bones -- in the process.

Depending on the age of the car, the record stands at 17 (for an older style Beetle) and up to 27 (for a new style Beetle.)

As part of the Octoberfest celebration at the Lethbridge Senior Citizen's Organization, the bug-stuffing frenzy begins at 7:30 p.m. at the LSCO facility, 500 11th St. S (just behind City Hall, downtown).

Additional activities taking place that day include the 9th Annual Accordionfest (4 p.m. to 8 p.m.), a dance party featuring the Chevelles (8 p.m. to midnight) plus traditional German food and refreshments befitting an Octoberfest gathering.

Tickets are $15 and are available on campus at the SU offices (403) 329-2222.
