U of L makes masks mandatory on campus beginning Monday, Aug. 10

For the safety and protection of the campus and local community, the University of Lethbridge will require the wearing of face coverings or non-medical masks in indoor public spaces on its Lethbridge campus beginning on Monday, Aug. 10.

Wearing a mask is part of the daily routine when working in U of L labs.
U of L students, staff, faculty and visitors to campus will need to wear a mask in campus areas such as hallways, washrooms and elevators and outdoors when physical distancing cannot be maintained. Those working on campus will not be required to wear a mask in their offices unless they are located in an area that faces the public. The mask policy will also apply to summer camps on campus.

The U of L is purchasing reusable masks for all faculty, staff and for students registered in face-to-face classes this fall. In addition, students living campus residences will be provided with masks that are to be worn when the student is not in their residence unit or outdoors when physical distancing cannot be maintained. With the number of orders being processed by our supplier, masks will likely not be available until the end of August. In the meantime, we ask that all faculty, staff, students and visitors coming to campus provide their own mask.

The rules regarding masks apply to the U of L’s Lethbridge campus only. The U of L’s operations at the Calgary campus, which are housed at Bow Valley College, remain remote at this time.

The U of L’s priority is the health and safety of everyone on campus and, under the provincial guidance for post-secondary institutions, we are still directed to limit in-person attendance on campus as much as possible. Access to the U of L campus remains restricted and the majority of staff will continue to work from home.
