Registration begins Monday for Chinook Symposium

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Lethbridge will be holding its 3rd Annual Chinook Symposium for Chemistry and Biochemistry, Oct. 2, 2009.

The symposium and associated Chinook Poster Prize competition is to recognize undergraduate and graduate students performing original research in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.

Registration for the poster prize competition begins Monday, Aug. 17 and runs through Sept. 18.

In previous years, the Chinook Poster Prizes have been established at both the undergraduate and master's levels, with two awards each in both chemistry and biochemistry for a total of eight awards. This year a new component has been added at the doctorate level – the PhD Gold Medal Competition.

The top two candidates from the doctorate competition will be selected to give a 20-minute Chinook Research Excellence Keynote Lecture in (Bio)Chemistry and awarded the Loren Hepler gold medal for PhD research excellence.

Registration for the 2009 competition begins August 17, 2009 and closes September 18, 2009. Visit the 3rd Annual Chinook Symposium anouncement for full details and registration information.
