Lisa Brawn studied at the Alberta College of Art and Design where she first began experimenting with figurative woodcuts.
Brawn draws on imagery from 20th century popular culture, including silent film stars, cowboys, 1970s television personalities, heroes and villains, international icons and symbols of Canadiana, rendering her subjects in hundreds of carved lines that are then painted.
Brawn's work has been exhibited extensively across Canada and the United States, and was featured prominently in the University of Lethbridge Art Gallery exhibition and publication 'Snap, Crackle, Pop' in 2010.
She continues her prolific art practice in Calgary, Alta.
