Graduate student workshop today

Class discussion is something that instructors want to encourage, but getting it and then keeping it going is far more difficult than it might appear.

The Centre for the Advancement of Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CAETL) looks to help graduate students with this task, presenting a workshop today entitled 'Leading a Discussion Group'.

Scheduled from 2-4 p.m. in Room L1114, the workshop will discuss a variety of strategies designed to initiate and then maintain a discussion. Students will learn how to keep discussions on topic, how to deal with dominant participants, situations where nobody wants to speak up and a host of other problems that typically arise in the classroom.

All graduate students are welcome to attend this workshop. For more information about this event or CAETL, click on the link.
