The Joys of LaTeX: An Entry Guide for the Potentially Obsessive

Dr. Kent Peacock (Philosophy Department) will present "The Joys of LaTeX: An Entry Guide for the Potentially Obsessive" on Monday, October 3rd at 2:00 p.m. in C-610.  All are welcome.

LaTeX is a document formatting system widely used in technical subjects such as logic, math, physics, linguistics, computer science, and philosophy of science.  No other software compares in the quality of output and the huge range of symbols and images that can be produced - if you know how!!  This talk will give a quick and dirty introduction to the joys (and occasional frustrations) of LaTeX.

What does Early Childhood Education and Care have to do with Global Political Economy?

Early childhood education, care and development programs have spread across the globe since 2000.  These programs dedicated to school-readiness and the development of healthy brains are a powerful global assemblage that connects education enterprise, brain science, and community-led development.  Based on fieldwork in Indonesia, Jan Newberry, considers these “developments” in terms of childhood studies and global political economy to argue for the continuing relevance of social reproduction.
