As the University indicated late last week, in-person classes and on campus activity in support of teaching, research, student services and operations will resume tomorrow, Monday, September 20, 2021 on both of our campuses.
Information from the Government of Alberta
Recently, the Alberta government posted that post-secondary institutions are considered out of scope regarding the Restriction Exemption Program, but that a separate and sector specific exemption would be posted.
This afternoon, Alberta Advanced Education indicated to us that Alberta Health will be issuing an interim exemption tonight for post-secondary institutions that there is “absolute certainty that they may have in-person classes tomorrow.” A second exemption allowing for continued in-person activities is expected to be issued in the coming days.
Masking
Masking continues to be a requirement for all indoor areas of campus. Information about the University’s masking mandate can be found on the Masking and Personal Protective Equipment webpage.
Rapid Testing and Vaccinations
Starting on Monday, September 20, 2021, students, faculty and staff, who do not have a vaccination exemption, will be required to rapid test every 72 hours to be eligible to be on campus. Please plan ahead to ensure availability of appointments. More information can be found here.
Vaccination Requirement for Lethbridge and Calgary campuses
It will soon be a requirement for all students, faculty and staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to access our campuses. This requirement begins November 1, 2021 for our Lethbridge campus and October 22, 2021 for our Calgary campus.
If you haven’t been vaccinated, we encourage you to do as soon as possible. For example, in order for an unvaccinated individual at our Lethbridge campus to meet the November 1, 2021 vaccination deadline, a first dose must be administered by September 20, 2021 (tomorrow).
Access to Vaccination Records
At this time, all students, faculty and staff are able to declare their vaccination status and are required to upload their rapid testing results to the uLethbridge Safe app or website prior to arriving on our campuses.
For our community members needing access to their vaccination records to upload into the app, the Alberta government has launched an online tool to access vaccination records.
We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow as we resume in-person learning.
