Presentation: Land Use Bylaw Renewal
A wide-ranging look at how land use regulation affects how cities shape our lives; how they feel, function, and facilitate (or hinder) economic activity and wealth creation. The talk will also detail how the City of Lethbridge’s current Land Use Bylaw Renewal project is creating Lethbridge’ first wholly new Land Use Bylaw in 40 years.
About the Speaker:
Ross Kilgour earned his degree in Urban & Regional Planning in Edinburgh, Scotland. He then worked in London, England, first as a planner for the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea before moving to the private sector with Firstplan Ltd. After immigrating to Canada, Ross joined the City of Lethbridge where he is now a Senior Community Planner, focusing on the redevelopment of older neighbourhoods, the City’s heritage program, and leading the Land Use Bylaw Renewal project. Ross’ passions in urbanism include sustainability, equity, planning/zoning reform, and enabling walkable neighbourhoods.
