LALA (Lacey And Layla Art) is the collaboration of public mural artists Lacey Jane Wilburn and Layla Folkmann, from Edmonton, Alberta in the heart of Treaty 6 territory. Since 2010, the duo have completed over 200 public mural interventions across Canada, France, Honduras, Iceland and Uganda. Specialising in site-specific public creations that respond directly to local communities, they have received over $250,000 in grants from provincial and municipal funding. From an over 5,000 square foot farm silo in rural Ontario, to orphanages in northern Uganda, and massive apartment blocks in Montreal, LALA shares their passion for creative vibrancy, local history and urban diversity by creating undeniably unique murals that reflect each environment they inhabit. Most notable for their vibrating colour schematics and glowing light effects, the women leave their mark in the form of expressive realism, painting every line, wrinkle and detail of their subjects, giving their work a raw authenticity that bridges realist art with their own contemporary aesthetic street art aesthetic.

We are excited to be collaborating with the City of Lethbridge Public Art Program and the Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge on this talk.
