New Laptop Loaner Program for Researchers Travelling Internationally

This notice is from the archives of The Notice Board. Information contained in this notice was accurate at the time of publication but may no longer be so.

ORIS and ITS are excited to launch a short-term Laptop Loaner Program designed specifically for researchers traveling internationally (including locations on the List of Named Research Organizations) and for business purposes that pose a risk of data loss. This initiative will support your significant work, and the security of your research and personal data during international travel will also be ensured.

Program Highlights

  • The program provides laptops preconfigured with necessary security measures, ensuring your research stays protected.
  • Researchers must first complete the travel registry and any other required forms prior to submitting a request for a loaner laptop.
  • The process includes a security briefing to help you navigate potential risks while abroad.

How It Works

  • Submit your request through https://go.uleth.ca/travel-device. Please note that you must still fill out the travel registry and other required forms
  • The form submission will notify ORIS, who will then advise ITS to prepare a laptop for you.
  • Before departure, ITS will conduct an optional but recommended security briefing specific to your travel context.
  • Upon returning, researchers must notify ORIS, return the laptop, and, if required, participate in a debrief session.
  •  ITS will reset the laptop to ensure it is ready for the next user.
