Music at Noon concert series presents Allison Balcetis

Allison Balcetis will perform a recital of vivacious, energetic, and colorful solo works for saxophones. 

Internationally recognized as an ambitious contemporary saxophonist, Allison Balcetis has studied and collaborated with artists from around the world.  Her international performance career has taken her around the world and has produced over 100 world premieres. Allison's current chamber ensembles include performing with mixed instrument quartet UltraViolet, the Edmonton Saxophone Quartet, Proteus Quartet, the free improvisation ensemble damn magpies, and weaving loom/saxophone duo echoradia. She is a major proponent of playing the music of our time, music by living composers, music that encompasses the sounds of our modern world. As a Teaching Professor at the University of Alberta, Allison trains the next generation of thoughtful, artistic musicians. Outside of the university, she develops the artistic community in Edmonton serving on the board of New Music Edmonton for ten years. In 2017 she was awarded the Qualico Artistic Leadership Award from the City of Edmonton.
