French Fried Brass

It’s a bit of France, right at home! The next Faculty Artists and Friends concert, French Fried Brass, brings some of the sights and sounds of France to the Community Room at Casa, Saturday, October 18 at 8 pm.

Featuring French favourites by a buffet of familiar composers, such as Claude Debussy and Erik Satie, arranged for brass and instrumental, the evening’s program is packed with pieces performed by a company of talented local musicians along with Department of Music faculty.

“Our concert will take place in the round,” says Dr. Josh Davies, Music Faculty member and featured performer. “It allows the performers and audience to connect, and is much more interactive. I expect it to be a fun night!”

From beautiful classics to quirky and humourous selections, audiences can expect a few surprises. “We are performing Bohuslav Marinů’s La Revue de Cuisine, a high energy and witty piece inspired by kitchen utensils, which I know our audience will enjoy.”
