Art NOW: Tanya Doody
Objects for Empaths and other Acts of Care
12 pm | October 1, 2021
uLethbridge online presentation
free admission, everyone welcome

Tanya Doody has been combining handmade objects and performance in her practice since 2010. Professionally trained in fine arts and traditional craft processes, she places value in the handmade and the buildup of tacit knowledge in the handling of material(s) over time. The connection of materials and objects to bodies and gestures is the basis of her performance art practice. This lecture follows her most recent exhibition, Objects for Empaths, on view in the Main Gallery at Casa, Lethbridge, AB (September 11-October 23, 2021).

Artist Bio:
Tanya Doody has been making work and exhibiting since 1995. Her work is in numerous collections and her practice is diverse, ranging from design to object-making to performance art. Tanya holds an MFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University (NSCAD) in Fine and Media Arts, a BFA honours from University of Victoria in Visual Arts, a Diploma from Sheridan College in Crafts and Design (Ceramics), and a Certificate of Fine Crafts (Ceramics) from the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design.
