Rob Story

Rob was born and raised in Edmonton. He completed a Bachelor of Environmental Studies and Master of Architecture at the University of Manitoba during the 1970s. Rob became addicted to travel along the way. He established HABICO Ltd. in 1980 with the name derived from an interest in the interface between human and natural habitats, and their conflicts and need for collaboration. Rob has focused on International Development consulting ever since under the catch-all “Human Settlements” taking him to about 45 countries. Rob is currently based in Calgary some of the time.

Giovana Story-Beltrao

Gio was born and raised in N.E. Brazil in the coastal city of Recife. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and Urbanism in 1994 applying that to low-income community (favela) upgrading work in both the public and private sectors. Gio moved to Canada and joined HABICO in 2000. She completed a Master of Environmental Design at the University of Calgary while also on the road half the time. Her focus was on International Urban Development. Gio is also fully engaged in international Human Settlements work in over 30 countries so far, including a 6-year consulting break to work with World Vision International. Gio splits her base between Calgary and Recife when not elsewhere.
