JDC West trio first in two categories

Faculty of Management students Bryan Tomie, Daniela Bruch and Brittany Miller earned a pair of first-place finishes for the University of Lethbridge at the 2011 JDC West business case competition, held recently at the University of Saskatchewan.

The trio combined to form Team Orange for the U of L as they took part in the largest student run business competition in western Canada. The three-day event showcases academic competitions, athletic challenges, a social competition and a charity initiative. This year's competition was held at the U of S's Edwards School of Business in Saskatoon.

The U of L team was awarded first place finishes in two categories, Marketing and Social, and managed to raise $30,281 toward fulfillment of the charity portion of the JDC competition. The money was raised primarily through November's Chillin' 4 Charity fundraiser as well as other volunteer activities.

Over 550 students from 11 of western Canada's top universities unite annually to compete in the competition, solely organized by and for business students. U of L students have competed each year since its inception in 2006, and have placed in the top three in multiple categories every year they've attended.

JDC West seeks to assemble the best business students that western Canadian universities have to offer. The competition provides students an opportunity to compete with each other in all facets of business, while developing networking, critical thinking and leadership skills as they prepare to begin their careers in the business world.
