Indigenous Orality Revisited

With popular focus aimed at the next new thing, Mohawk poet, media/sound artist and performance artist, Janet Rogers shares her experience as a spoken word poet and how her current practice honours old traditions. She will share samples of poetry media work and live spoken word pieces as she connects the past with the present.

Studio North is an interdisciplinary design + build practice established by Matthew Kennedy and Mark Erickson. The Studio North team has been collaborating for the past decade on projects of a variety of scales, from flat pack furniture and public art installations to laneway housing and mountainside hotels. Their work has been featured in a growing number of local and international publications, such as Canadian Architect Magazine, Western Living, and ArchDaily.

The Centre for Oral History and Tradition and the Institute for Child and Youth Studies are proud and honoured to present a joint book launch for Drs. Heidi MacDonald and Kristine Alexander to celebrate the publication of their new books.  Join us at 6:00 p.m. to meet the authors, and stay for their talks and readings at 7:00 p.m.  Books will be available for purchase at the event.  Refreshments will be provided.  Everyone is welcome.
