George Ellis Research Scholarship

The George Ellis Research Scholarship is available to undergraduate students who are interested in research and will be completing a summer project or independent study before April 1, 2019. Award value up to $3000.

Eligibility:  A candidate must have a minimum of 19 semester courses in a degree program at the time the research is undertaken and must have successfully completed a minimum of eight graded semester courses, as a full-time student, in the last two semesters at the University of Lethbridge. 

Conditions: A program of research activity must be carried out (under authorized supervision) and completed by April 1st of the academic year following the granting of the award. Holders of research scholarships are expected to present to the Office of the Dean or the Director a complete report of the results of their research, in a form acceptable to the supervising department. Application may be made for academic credit through Independent Study for work done in fulfillment of the terms of the scholarship.

Application:  Completed applications must be received in the Scholarships Office no later than March 1st. Applications for Research Scholarships must be supported by a letter of recommendation from the appropriate Department or the Faculty member responsible for the research, specifying:

1. Qualifications of the candidate;
2. Nature of the proposed research;
3. The student’s proposal for the research project;
4. Name of the supervisor of the research.
