Filing taxes can be a very confusing and intimidating process. For numerous students, this may be the first time that they will have ever been required to do so. Rather than doing your taxes yourself this year, you can get them done for free on campus by trained volunteers.
Trained Dhillon School of Business and Accounting Club students (volunteering with the Canada Revenue Agency) will be offering a free ‘virtual’ tax service to students and others who qualify for the program.
This is a unique program that will allow students to gain practical experience doing taxes while at the same time helping their fellow students. All of the volunteers are trained by CRA, and this program is completely free. Taxes filed will be immediately e-filed.
Please note that this program is only for a simple income tax return. Those that have earnings over $35,000, business returns, capital gains, or foreign income will not be eligible for this program. Community members, if they meet the previous requirements, are also eligible for the program.
This year we are hosting this as a virtual event only. You will need to have an internet connection, a computer device (desktop, laptop, or tablet) that can connect using the Zoom Client for Meetings App. To download this app:
- Windows or Mac - https://zoom.us/download#client_4meeting
- iPhone or Android - https://zoom.us/download#mobile_app
**Your device must have a working camera and microphone so that we can view your personal identification and any tax paperwork in your possession.
At your time of appointment, please have ready your personal identification, Notice of Assessment, all employment income slips (T4’s), any RRSP contributions, tuition slips (T2202A), and any other tax information that you may have received over the year.
Dates: March 12, 19, 26
Time: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Please email accounting.club@uleth.ca and indicate a day and time that works best for you to schedule an appointment.
