EndNote X9 (Windows) Users: How to Obtain the Latest Version

This notice is from the archives of The Notice Board. Information contained in this notice was accurate at the time of publication but may no longer be so.

To find out if you are running the current version, open your desktop EndNote application and go to Help | About EndNote X9 …  If it says your version is X9.2 or lower, you do not have the current version, which is X9.3 or higher.

Please note: if your version is X9.2 and you go to Help / Check for Updates… EndNote will say, “You are currently running the latest version of EndNote X9. Please check for updates again in the future.”  This is incorrect: it reflects a bug that will persist until you manually install version X9.3.

To install X9.3, please see the FAQ How do I update to X9.3 in the Library EndNote guide, which provides a link to a Clarivate Analytics page on EndNote X9: Updates.  Look for the “Manual Update Instructions For Windows” toward the bottom of the page.

As noted in the above FAQ, updating to EndNote X9.3 will afterward necessitate converting the file format of your EndNote library. It is strongly advised that you manually update to the current version because, among other things, doing so will maintain the interoperability of your EndNote library (or libraries) on Mac and Windows platforms.

If you have any questions or require assistance in updating to EndNote X9.3, please email endnote.library@uleth.ca.
