Digging into Open Data: Canada’s Open Government Portals

This notice is from the archives of The Notice Board. Information contained in this notice was accurate at the time of publication but may no longer be so.

Open data is a growing movement where organizations, especially government, release data – much of which is location data — to the public free of charge through open government portals. Users can visit these websites to search for and download relevant datasets which are then typically imported into a software application for analysis. Librarian Rhys Stevens will provide guidance about how to find and make use of open data using examples from several Canadian portals.
