The University of Lethbridge extends its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and fellow students of Talon Smith who passed away on Sunday, March 24. Our thoughts also go to the faculty, staff and community members who knew and supported Talon during his time on campus.

Talon was a first-year Indigenous student from the Piikani Nation enrolled in the Indigenous Student Success Certificate program and will be fondly remembered by many in the University community.

A large number of Indigenous students aspire to attain a post-secondary or university education. Talon Smith was one of those students, but unfortunately, Creator came calling and brought Talon into the other world. His warmth, humor and affection left a lasting impact on countless lives, and we send our continued thoughts and prayers to all who have known him.
