1st Choice Savings Centre now reopen with limitations

The Government of Alberta has moved into Step 2 of their COVID-19 Reopening Plan, easing restrictions on indoor fitness and programs. As the University of Lethbridge works toward a gradual and safe reopening of its facilities, Horns Recreation is pleased to announce that time-slot bookings for the Fitness Centre & Indoor Track, Ascent Climbing Centre, Open Gym, Lane Swim and Outdoor Track are now available for our members.

  • Each person will need to book a time slot in advance to allow for control of numbers in the facility and for necessary cleaning between users.
  • Additional indoor recreation programs will be available, including summer camps!
  • Mask wearing continues to be required in all common areas including hallways, common areas, and locker rooms.
  • Physical distancing of 3 metres is required when using the Fitness Centre, Indoor Track, or during Fitness Classes.

Aquatic certification and recertification courses continue to be available under the Government of Alberta's reopening plan. To view available courses, please click here!

Facility Hours of Operation will be as follows between June 10-30, 2021:

  • Monday to Friday - 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  

Virtual & In-Person Fitness Options:

Under Stage 2 guidance, there are now in-person and virtual fitness program options available! Check out the Group Fitness tab on https://go.uleth.ca/sportrec to register and view the updated schedule.

 Summer Programs

  • Athlete Enhancement Program: The AEP is Alberta Sport Development Centre’s flagship athlete support program aimed to provide high quality training to athletes from all sports. Training is delivered by uLeth Strength & Conditioning Coaches! Registration closes on July 9, register at go.uleth.ca/hp-summer
  • Private Swim Lessons: Week-long 45 minute private swimming lessons help individuals learn steps to improve all aspects of their technique. Let us know what you would like to improve and leave the rest to us! 
  • Fencing Camps (Jul 5-9): Learn the fundamental fencing skills through a games & discovery based program. Players participate in activities to develop essential skills in a manner that emphasize the thrill and enjoyment of the sport. 
  • Art Camps (Jul 5-9, Jul 12-16): Sculpture, printmaking, drawing, painting, collage and more! This camp is for anyone with an interest in creating art! 
  • Multi Activity Camps (every week of Jul): Your child will participate in cooperative games, art & crafts, swimming & various sport and physical activities. We encourage and support social interactions skills, emphasizing cooperation and individual improvement throughout the week. 
  • Soccer Camps (Jul 5-9, Jul 12-16): Horns Soccer Camps are intended for players either beginning their soccer journey or looking to fine tune their skills. Activities include developing technical and tactical abilities, proper running techniques, core strength, flexibility, recovery, proper nutrition and mental preparation. 
  • Mermaid Camps (Jul 12-16, Jul 26-30): Put your best fin forward with our Full Day Mermaid Summer Camp where you will enjoy fun activities in and out of the water! 
  • Water Safety Camp (Jul 19-23): This full day camp is designed for kids who are looking for fun in, on and around the water! Swimmers will build confidence in the water, increase water safety knowledge and improve physical fitness.
