New Media 1000 C/D students of Prof. Will Smith present a closed exhibition, entitled southernAB21 featuring digital artworks from diverse academic disciplines, Saturday March 20, 2021 at the Dr. Foster James Penny Building Gallery. Students have taken photographic source material in Alberta, mainly from the southern region, but also in western Canada, since the beginning of the academic term and manipulated it in the digital space to create digital artwork that is meaningful to them. They specify location at a certain time and date. Moreover, they have created stories that accompany the artwork.
The University closed March 13, 2020, and it will be over a year of the COVID19 lockdown protocol. Immediately following the southernAB21 virtual tour, Professor Smith will share works created during that period in a concurrent exhibition co20-mar-21vid with a virtual tour at the same address above but beginning at 6:30 pm.
