Christian Guay-Poliquin talks about his novel The Weight of Snow

This event is from the archives of The Notice Board. The event has already taken place and the information contained in this post may no longer be relevant or accurate.

Christian Guay-Poliquin won the Governor General Award for French fiction with his second novel:  Le poids de la neige,  which was later translated in English (The Weight of Snow).

The French Language Centre and the Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics are pleased to announce that he will be on campus to talk about his work.

Christian Guay-Poliquin was born back when acid rain and the hole in the ozone layer seemed to be the only environmental concerns. While post-apocalyptic fiction informs his work, rather than tell yet another end-of-the-world story, Guay-Poliquin looks to explore the strengths and fragility of human relations. Accordingly, his storytelling is intimately connected with real life and a meticulous attention to detail.

The presentation will be in English.
