Architecture & Design NOW presents Aimee Benoit
Recollecting Home
6 pm | March 11, 2019
Room L1060
Free admission, everyone welcome
Recollecting Home is the current feature exhibition at the Galt Museum & Archives. This exhibit explores different meanings of home, through people’s connections with objects. Alongside a range of personal memories of childhood and family, it also presents artwork by Kainai youth that reflects Blackfoot perspectives of home. Galt curator Aimee Benoit will share the curatorial approach behind the project, and the various ways in which it invites reflection about the complex meanings associated with material culture.
Recollecting Home is on view at the Galt Museum & Archives until May 5.
Aimee Benoit is curator at the Galt Museum & Archives. She has spent more than 15 years managing and curating museum collections at the Glenbow, Calgary Stampede, and the Galt. She has also worked as an independent heritage consultant, and is currently a PhD candidate in the Cultural, Social and Political Thought program at the University of Lethbridge.
