Queer Histories and Youth Engagement in Southern Alberta
January 24, 2019
12:15 p.m.
AH 100 (Andy's Place)
The Queer Impact Club (QIC) is a program of the Boys and Girls Club of Lethbridge and District (BGC) and the MAT Youth Centre. The youth in QIC (ages 13-18) are creating and curating a queer exhibit of southern Alberta. This exhibit is entitled "Transitions" and will be opening at the Galt Museum and Archives in October 2019.
In this talk, Kaitlynn Weaver (Community Youth Education Worker at the BGC) and Liam Devitt (Applied Studies student in History) will be exploring the benefits and challenges of engaging LGBTQ2S+ identifying youth in a queer exhibit. In this informal presentation, they will be asking for the audience's feedback about QIC programming and how they can better include diverse voices into the exhibit.
