Talking About Teaching: Lectures, PowerPoints and Essays Oh My!

This event is from the archives of The Notice Board. The event has already taken place and the information contained in this post may no longer be relevant or accurate.

Active learning, SCALE-UP rooms, audience response systems, team-based learning, and e-texts are just some of the many terms and tools we come across when trying to figure out the best way to teach and the best resources to use. In many cases, the use of new tools or methodologies has lead instructors to abandon old ways of instruction. And in some cases, lecture, PowerPoint, and essay have almost become forbidden words.

There is so much focus on the new strategies that we often forget what powerful teaching tools the lecture, the PowerPoint slide, and a good essay topic can be. At the next Talking About Teaching, we will be examining these three tools and discussing some promising ways to utilize these tools in your class.

Friday, September 23rd | L1050 | 2:30 - 4:30 PM
