Brilliant Failures

Overview: The Office of Research and Innovation Services invites you to a lighthearted event where established faculty members share the mishaps, misadventures and unexpected turns they encountered throughout their research careers.

Behind every successful research program are grant rejections, failed experiments, derailed field seasons and lessons learned the hard way. This session offers an honest look at these common setbacks, told with humour, humility and reflection by experienced researchers across disciplines.

Graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and early‑career researchers will benefit from hearing mentors and colleagues speak openly about failure, resilience and what it really takes to build a research career. Faculty members are also encouraged to attend and join the conversation.
