Position Details

Student Affairs and Agility at the University of Lethbridge are looking for an enthusiastic student to join the Food for Thought (FFT) team. FFT is a group of faculty, staff and students that work together to build awareness and collaborate on food insecurity initiatives. This position will support ongoing FFT initiatives throughout June to September. The FFT Coordinator will be involved in the following:

1. Campus Gardens

  • Create a sustainable plan to engage students in gardens
  • Submit a Food for Thought proposal to fund garden plots
  • Contribute to planting/maintaining students gardens
  • Coordinate volunteers throughout the summer growing season
  • Organize "How-To" workshops for students in collaboration with faculty members and Campus Roots

2. Fresh Food Box Product

  • Work with partners to bring more produce in the hands of students at an affordable cost
  • Support the program by creating marketing materials, etc.

3. Adopt-A-Pantry

  • Engage campus community in pantry program
  • Support program by creating marketing materials, coordinating volunteers, stocking pantries, etc.

4. Food Literacy

  • Develop a plan to enhance nutrition awareness on campus
  • Organize workshops for students in collaboration with faculty members

5. FFT Outreach

  • Web updates
  • Info tabling

6. Other

  • Support new FFT initiatives. This may include finding volunteers, creating marketing materials, website updates, etc.

The successful candidate will work up to a maximum of 10 hours per week June to September. The position will be paid $23.61/hour and will report to Student Affairs and Agility.
