National Indigenous Peoples Day: Join Iikaisskini Indigenous Services for a celebration honouring National Indigenous Peoples Day!

Noon to 4 p.m.
UHall Atrium and IIkaisskini (Low Horn) Gathering Centre (W650)
This event is in partnership with Iikaisskini Indigenous Services, the Indigenous Mental Health Outreach Program and the Elders in Residence Program. Following a feast, Piitah (Eagle), Peetah Bastien, will present on the meaning of Blackfoot naming ceremonies. We will then hold a Blackfoot naming ceremony for students Kenzy Ward and Kelly Broad Sculplock. Kenzy and Kelly both recently completed a Work-Integrated Learning experience with the Elders in Residence and Mental Health program this past semester, and to honour their work, will be recieving a Blackfoot name from Ninnaisipistoo (Owl Chief), Dr. Francis First Charger (LLD '24).
Noon - 1 p.m. — Feast in the UHall Atrium
1 - 2 p.m. — Presentation: The Meaning of Blackfoot Naming Ceremonies by Peetah Bastien
2:30 - 4 p.m. — Blackfoot Naming Ceremony with Dr. Francis First Charger. Singing and drumming by Ruben Big Sorrel Horse
