New Faculty Research Orientation

The Office of Research and Innovation Services (ORIS) is pleased to resume its in-person orientation session for new faculty.  Join us on FridayNovember 4, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in SA9088, for an overview of everything you need to know to apply for and hold research funding at the U of L. You'll also have a chance to meet representatives from units across campus that support research. This session will be geared towards new faculty members, but it is open to anyone who would like a refresher.  

Agenda

9 a.m. — Welcome and introductions
9:10-9:45 a.m. — Finding funding and proposal development (ORIS grant facilitation team and School of Graduate Studies)
9:45-10:15 a.m. — Compliance requirements (ORIS research ethics team + Safety Services)
10:15-10:30 a.m. — Post-award administration (Financial Services)
10:45-11:15 a.m. — Using your funds (Materials Management, Human Resources)
11:15-11:30 a.m. — Research Data Management (Library)
11:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. — Promoting your research (Communications, ORIS)
12 -1 p.m. — Lunch and panel with representatives from external funders (Mitacs, NRCan, Alberta Innovates, Prairies Can)
