On Tuesday afternoon, February 8, 2022, the Government of Alberta announced the end of its Restriction Exemptions Program (REP) as part of its overall plan to ease the COVID-19 health measures currently in place. Following this announcement, Advanced Education has provided additional guidance for post-secondary institutions.
As previously announced, the University of Lethbridge plans to reopen its campus to primarily in-person learning on Monday, February 28, 2022, depending on the resolution of the current faculty labour situation.
In alignment with the provincial directive, the University will no longer require proof of vaccination to enroll in courses for future semesters. Nonetheless, the U of L wholeheartedly embraces the value of vaccination in keeping the members of our campus community, their loved ones, and the broader community safe. Please remember we are a highly vaccinated community and this high level of vaccination helps protect us all.
Masking requirements will remain in place until the end of the Spring 2022 semester. This means wearing a mask in all public spaces on both our Lethbridge and Calgary campuses. After this time, the use of masks will be optional.
The University will continue to assess the ever-evolving situation with COVID-19 and provide updates as they become available.
In the meantime, please continue to follow our COVID-19 health and safety protocols — stay home if you feel ill, wear your mask in indoor spaces on campus, and wash or sanitize your hands frequently.
Thank you for your support of our University and all your efforts to keep everyone safe.
