Join the University of Lethbridge in a virtual book launch celebrating Unmasking the Experiences of Racialized Women in Academia, co-edited by Dr. Sandra Dixon (ULethbridge Faculty of Education, Equity Scholar) and Dr. Cecille DePass (UCalgary Werklund School of Education, Professor Emerita). Hear stories from contributors to the book, including PhD Student Millie Batta (MEd Counselling Psychology).

Unmasking the Experiences of Racialized Women in Academia is a collection of stories by scholars, administrators and graduate students meant to share the light on the invisible labour that comes from being positioned as Black, Racialized Women in the academy, a space that was not built for these bodies and stories. It shares some key messages and lessons learned to help the next generation of scholars to own their position and voices within white academic spaces and how to mentor/sponsors those who may come after you.

This virtual event will feature a short keynote presentation by Dr. Theresa Rajack-Talley (founding member of the Scarborough Charter on Anti Black Racism and Black Inclusion, Former Vice Provost Equity and Inclusiveness emeriti Dalhousie University, Professor of Black and Caribbean Studies), followed by a moderated sharing circle of contributing authors.
