Please join the Office of Research and Innovation Services (ORIS) for our in-person research orientation for new faculty on Thursday, August 29, from 10 am – 4 p.m. in SA8003. The orientation will provide information regarding the processes for holding research funds at the University, as well as research-related topics such as ethics requirements and how to work with graduate students. While this session is designed to support new faculty members, it is open to anyone who would like to attend.

Tentative Agenda Overview: 

• 10 - 10:20 = Welcome & Introductions
• 10:20 - 10:45 = Finding Funding & Proposal Development
• 10:45 - 11:15 = Other Funders on Campus
• 11:15 - 11:30 = Coffee Break
• 11:30 - Noon = Compliance Requirements
• Noon - 12:15 = Post-award Administration
• 12:15 - 1:15 = Lunch (provided) & Optional Walking Tour
• 1:15 - 2:20 = Using Your Funds
• 2:20 - 2:30 = Coffee Break
• 2:30 - 3:15 = RDM, IRs, Technology Support, Insurance & Risk
• 3:15 – 3:45 = Tri-Council Funding
• 3:45 - 4  = Wrap-up & Concluding Remarks
