For their Music at Noon program, Maraca2 will be performing works by such composers as F. Chopin, Eric Sammut, Casey Cangelosi, Roland Stolk and Stephen Whibley.
Maraca2 percussion duo are one of the World’s leading percussion ensembles and have performed as recitalists around the globe, from the Isle of Man to Argentina. Tim Palmer and Jason Huxtable met whilst studying at the Birmingham Conservatoire where they formed to perform as a duo for their final undergraduate recital. They attained the highest degree classifications, achieved distinction in the postgraduate course specialising in percussion duo and now teach at the Conservatoire as tutors of percussion.
In addition to their involvement in the duo, Tim and Jason maintain a busy freelance schedule based in the Midlands and regularly play with the region’s most established ensembles including the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Royal Shakespeare Company and the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group as well as various teaching positions at schools, colleges and Universities. As one of Europe’s most commercially supported ensembles they are proud to endorse Sabian Cymbals, Innovative Percussion, Marimba One marimbas, Pearl Percussion and Remo.
