Biographies

Brad Parker, piano

Brad Parker is Assistant Professor of Piano in the Department of Music at the University of Lethbridge, where he teaches Studio Piano and Musicianship Skills.  He has performed extensively as a soloist and collaborative pianist in the United States, Canada, France, Italy, and Haiti.  Recent performances include solo recitals in South Carolina and California, as well as collaborative performances with Pedro Diaz (English Horn, Met. Opera Orchestra), Gabriel Goni (flute, Costa Rica Symphony), and Nancy Stagnitta (flute, Interlochen Center for the Arts), multiple events in the Piccolo Spoleto Festival, as well as concertos with the Charleston Symphony and Lyra Vivace Chamber Orchestra.

Brad completed a Masters and DMA in Piano Performance at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, with further graduate studies in France at the Paris Conservatory.  He studied at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario where he earned a Bachelor of Music with Distinction.  His principal teachers include Rebecca Penneys, Dr. Heather Dawn Taves, and Jean Koerner.

Margaret Mezei, clarinet

A native of Southern Alberta, Margaret (Peggy) Mezei earned a Bachelor of Music degree in clarinet performance from Washington State University (cum laude) and a Master of Music (magna cum laude) in Clarinet Performance and Pedagogy from Michigan State University where she studied with Dr. Elsa Ludwig-Verdehr. She has been a recipient of Canada Council Arts Awards, performance scholarships, and was named Pi Kappa Lambda by the American National Music Honors Society.

Margaret Mezei joined the faculty at the University of Lethbridge in 1989. Her focus is teaching clarinet, performance as a soloist and chamber musician. During her tenure at the University, she was Director of the Conservatory of Music, a position she held for over 25 years. She currently teaches clarinet as a sessional instructor and is a valued arts administrator.

Mezei is an active clarinetist, clinician, and adjudicator. She was principal clarinet for the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra and principal second clarinet with the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra. Margaret has been featured with the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra as a soloist, numerous collaborations with Musaeus, in addition to solo recitals.
