Ewazen's lush Sonata and McKee's epic Centennial Horizon highlight this program of beautiful trumpet and piano music.

Dr. Alan Klaus has been assistant professor of trumpet and horn at Memorial University since 2012. Born in London, Ontario, he previously served as Visiting Assistant Professor of Trumpet and Low Brass at Montana State University and as Brass Specialist at Mount Allison University. He is honoured to have been selected as a Bach Trumpet Artist and enjoys maintaining a varied schedule as a performer and clinician.

Klaus recently released a CD, Distorted Mirrors, with American trombonist Timothy Dueppen including three new commissioned works. A featured soloist with the PEI Symphony Orchestra and at the Atlantic Band Festival, he has also appeared at numerous universities across North America for recitals and masterclasses. Klaus toured China as Principal Trumpet of the American Festival Orchestra and has performed with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, Bozeman Symphony Orchestra, Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra London (Canada), the World of Winds, the International Youth Wind Orchestra, the National Youth Orchestra of Canada and the National Youth Band of Canada. 

While on-campus, Alan Klaus is also giving a presentation on Practicing for Performance at 1 pm, March 12 in W400.
