Expect a spectacular array of adrenaline fueled performances, artistic wizardry and a virtuosic percussive display suitable for any audience, with visiting artists Maraca2 Percussion Duo. The third performance in the Faculty Artists & Friends series.

Maraca2 percussion duo are one of the World’s leading percussion ensembles and have performed as recitalists around the globe, from the Isle of Man to Argentina. Tim Palmer and Jason Huxtable met whilst studying at the Birmingham Conservatoire where they formed to perform as a duo for their final undergraduate recital. They attained the highest degree classifications, achieved distinction in the postgraduate course specialising in percussion duo and now teach at the Conservatoire as tutors of percussion.

Maraca2 perform regularly at percussion festivals worldwide and have appeared as artists at all the major events including the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Indianapolis 2009/2013, the International Marimba Convention in Minneapolis, the Fundación Cultural Percussion Festival in Argentina and Royal Northern College of Music Day of Percussion in Manchester. They have performed around Europe at festivals and music events with recent appearances in Tenerife, Croatia, Serbia and France. In addition to a host of regional media appearances they also have played live on BBC national radio as well as a variety of TV and radio events in both the US and Europe.

In addition to their involvement in the duo Tim and Jason maintain a busy freelance schedule based in the Midlands and regularly play with the region’s most established ensembles including the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Royal Shakespeare Company and the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group as well as various teaching positions at schools, colleges and Universities. As one of Europe’s most commercially supported ensembles they are proud to endorse Sabian Cymbals, Innovative Percussion, Marimba One marimbas, Pearl Percussion and Remo.
