Lethbridge Blockchain Workshop and Hackathon: Orientation

Experts from academia/industry will pose real-world problems and participants will design smart contracts and pitch to experts. No prior experinece in coding or blockchain is necessary. We will show you the tools of the trade!    

Orientation and First Workshop

Dr. Robert Benkoczi: LBWH Workshops, Competitions and Prizes (4:00 - 4:15 p.m.)

Dr. Muhammad A. Khan: Decentralization via Blockchain: A No-Strings-Attached Framework (4:15 - 4:45 p.m.)

Abstract: Blockchain means different things to different parties. From mining cryptocurrencies to reducing accounting overhead and from supply chain management to smart contracts, blockchain technology serves many different needs. This talk describes the decentralized framework common to most of these applications. We discuss how blockchain delivers transparency, immutability and consensus in a peer-to-peer setting, without focusing on any particular application. Participants would be able to interpret the talk in the context of their backgrounds and interests. No strings attached! 

Mahshid Aghania: Hands-on Lab Activities (4:45 - 6:00 p.m.)

We highly recommend attending the orientation and the workshops for team building and preparing for the competitions. 

We request that you BRING A DEVICE (laptop/tablet/phablet) capable of browsing the web.A limited number of devices might be available for University of Lethbridge students.
