Indigenous Awareness Week Opening Ceremony, Mini Powwow and Dance Demonstration

Join Iikaisskini Indigenous Services for the Opening Ceremony to kick-off Indigenous Awareness Week in Science Commons Atrium!

Blessings will be provided by Elder-in-Residence Francis First Charger, along with addresses from President and Vice-Provost, Dr. Digvir Jayas, and Vice-Provost, Iniskim Indigenous Relations, Dr. Leroy Little Bear.

Feel the beat of the drums and immerse yourself in Blackfoot culture with a mini powwow and dance demonstration. Following the Grand Entry, there will be a traditional Blackfoot Naming Ceremony for the Faculty of Fine Arts.

Schedule:
10-11 a.m.: Opening ceremony – smudge and blessings

12:30-2:30 p.m.: Mini Powwow and Dance Demonstration

12:45 p.m.: Faculty of Fine Arts Blackfoot Naming Ceremony
