Engaging Industry - Collaborative Research Partnerships
This talk will provide an overview of various internal and external projects successfully completed with student and stakeholder engagement. The focus will be on two areas: business intelligence (BI) and business process management (BPM). Data analytics is a growing field because organizations have amassed large volumes of data which largely remain untapped. The value in this data is immense but insights can only be gained using advanced BI techniques including multi-dimensional OLAP cubes. Visualization of this data is necessary to stir stakeholder interest. Besides descriptive analytics, predictive and prescriptive modeling further enhances the value by forecasting likely outcomes and taking corrective actions to influence the future. BPM is another area which has been gaining rapid attention in recent years due to the ever-increasing complexity of interacting processes which exist in all organizations. The BPM lifecycle allows removal of redundancies and overlaps as processes are optimized for maximum efficiency. Organizations are moving towards adopting BPM at a pace never seen before.
