The School of Liberal Education and Alumni Relations presents:
Building Brains and Futures: One Connection at a Time
Dr. Robbin Gibb (Department of Neuroscience)
Dr. Foster James Penny Building (PB210; 324 - 5 Street South)
7 p.m., Tuesday, October 8, 2019
Alberta's children are scoring below Canadian norms when it comes to developmental milestones, leading many to ask how do we improve kindergarten readiness?
While we don’t have the answer yet, the Building Brains and Futures project has developed a curriculum aimed to improve executive function in preschoolers. Implemented at four early-learning sites in Lethbridge already, the simple activities are easily incorporated into classroom routines and early results are inspiring. The project has now expanded to Building Brains Together with a focus on sharing activities to promote positive brain development with parents and childcare workers.
Join the conversation around this innovative project and learn more about vital research, programs and resources.
Free admission. Everyone is welcome.
The Lib Ed Living Room Speaker Series highlights the connections between disciplines, bringing people together to discuss relevant issues and building a more engaged community of leaders, innovators, thinkers and doers.
