Art Publishing in Canada, and its Future

Goodden presents a lecture on art publishing at a crucial moment, when its tone and presentation are undergoing significant renovations. Goodden delivers a brief history of art criticism and its various impacts, while bringing a focus to the pluralities of its contemporary moment. She profiles the genre’s latest appearance in new media, and examines its potential value within a perpetually-shifting field.

Sky Goodden is the Editor of Momus, an online art publication with an international focus that promotes accessible criticism.  She is the former Executive Editor of the popular contemporary art site, BLOUIN ARTINFO Canada (ca.blouinartinfo.com), where she produced a readership of over 40,000 per month, and established a successful and uniquely critical platform. Goodden regularly writes for Modern Painters, Art + Auction, Canadian Art, Border Crossings, and C Magazine, among others. She was the 2010 Editorial Resident at Canadian Art, and holds an MFA in Criticism and Curatorial Practice from OCAD University.  (Photo courtesy of Gemma Warren)
