Art NOW presents Jonathan Middleton
Curating and Publishing as a so-called art practice
Noon, November 8, 2019
University Recital Hall
Free admission, everyone welcome!

Middleton will speak on his 20+ year curatorial practice, reflecting on projects at the Western Front, Or Gallery, Bodger's & Kludger's Cooperative Art Parlour, as well as his more recent publishing endeavours with Projectile, Fillip, and Information Office. He’ll also touch on his recent activities at Art Metropole, outlining plans that build in the organization’s 45 year history as a centre for a broad range of publishing activities and dissemination.

Jonathan Middleton is an artist, curator, and publisher working between Toronto and Vancouver. Middleton currently serves as executive director of Art Metropole (Toronto) and editor-at-large for Information Office, a Vancouver-based design and publishing studio. He served as director/curator of Vancouver’s Or Gallery from 2007 to 2017, and established the Or’s Berlin satellite space in 2010, directing its operations until its closure in 2015. Middleton also served as director/curator of the Western Front Exhibitions Program (1999-2005), and was a founding member of the art periodical Fillip in 2004, serving as its first publisher until 2008.

We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts. Nous remercions le Conseil des arts du Canada de son soutien.

Art NOW also wishes to thank the Southern Alberta Art Gallery for their collaboration in making Jonathan's visit and presentation possible.
