JOHN CLARK, PAINTER, WRITER, EDUCATOR.

John Clark was a painter and professor of art at the University of Lethbridge from 1986 until his death at the age of 46 in 1989. This summer, Contemporary Calgary mounted an exhibition to mark the 25th anniversary of his passing.

Pamela Clark will speak in ART NOW to offer a personal reflection on his art, from the early formative years through the development of his mature practice.   Pamela met John Clark as a fellow student at Hull Regional College of Art, U.K. in 1963. They married in 1968.

Pamela has pursued her own career in the arts in Alberta. At the University of Lethbridge Art Gallery she was involved in a period of extensive growth of the art collection.  In 1998, she earned a diploma in Multimedia from Lethbridge College and in 2001, a Diploma in New Media Design from the University of Alberta. Her career then took her from collection management into digitization and database design, and then into exhibition and publication design. She recently retired from her position as Curatorial Designer at the Art Gallery of Alberta, Edmonton and now lives in Lethbridge.
