This event is from the archives of The Notice Board. The event has already taken place and the information contained in this post may no longer be relevant or accurate.

Katie Marie Bruce is an artist and educator, working primarily in printmaking, who recently relocated to Lethbridge from Toronto. She received her MFA from York University in 2015, where her thesis work examining empathy, "felt knowledge" was supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. She has presented her work across Canada, in exhibitions, residencies, and projects, and is presenting a new body of work for 'surface to surface,' a two person exhibition with Christie Kirchner at Alberta Printmakers Gallery in Calgary, on January 5th, 2018. Katie’s art is held by many private collections across Canada and the United States, as well as in the permanent collection of the Schulich School of Business in Toronto Ontario. Over the past two years, Katie has found herself preoccupied with two things: empathy and printmaking. Her contribution toThis Is Water: Emerging Practices in Contemporary Art presented at the SAAG in 2015 was the beginning of an internal shift, expressed in her practice as more personal, emotive projects. Considering folds, bodies, and anxiety, Katie will be sharing her most recent print-trajectories and some of the research (written and felt) that she has drawn on.
