The annual University of Lethbridge Studio Art Faculty Exhibition opens February 1 at the Dr. Foster James Penny Building, with an opening reception from 7 to 9 p.m. The exhibition is a testament to the exceptional artistic work of contemporary Lethbridge-based visual artists currently teaching at the University.

Although bound by geography and profession, After Hours provides an intimate look into the diverse practices of thirteen nationally and internationally recognized artists. The exhibition explores how each artist interprets space, medium, and time, through print and digital media, as well as 3D artworks.

After Hours is curated by University of Lethbridge students in Museum Studies 2850: Introduction to Curating, and Art History/Museum Studies professor Devon Smither.  Smither states, “This exhibition and this Museum Studies course give students first-hand experience organizing, curating, installing, and promoting a major art exhibition in downtown Lethbridge. They learn about the role of the curator and the process of exhibition making and it is my sincere hope that they go on to curate more exciting exhibitions and events in Lethbridge and beyond.”

After Hours features the work of Mary-Anne McTrowe, Jackson 2bears, Michael Campbell, Brent Coulton, Dagmar Dahle, Niall Donaghy, David Miller, Don Gill, Mary Kavanagh, Annie Martin, Darlene St. Georges, and RHE (Recently Human Engineered), a collaborative project from Glen MacKinnon and Denton Frederickson.

The exhibition runs from February 1 to 8, 2019 at the Dr. Foster James Penny Building (324 - 5 St. S., Lethbridge, AB), with regular gallery hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.

All are welcome to attend and admission is free.
