This project explores how comics are an imaginitive and diverse literary style that have a definite place in the ELA classroom. Includes a "dissection of a comic book" and a list of recommended comics for the classroom.

Description: A set of four developed lesson plans for using comics in your language arts classroom. Spiderman, Superman, and Julius (as in Julius Caesar) are all designed for middle/high school.
Graphic Literature as a Mirror for Current Events
Description: A novel study plan based on J.P. Stassen's "Deogratias: A Tale of Rwanda" -- a graphic novel depicting the harrowing and horrific Rwandan genocide in the early-mid 1990s. The novel (and the accompanying lesson plan) can both inform and enlighten students about this important part of world history. Stassen won the prestigious Goscinny Prize for this graphic novel.
