Tim Jorgensen has been appointed as General Counsel at the University of Lethbridge

Tim Jorgensen, B.A., LL.B., will join the University of Lethbridge on September 11, 2017 as the University’s General Counsel.

Jorgensen was most recently the City Solicitor for the City of Lethbridge, where he was a member of the Senior Management Team and led a team managing the City’s legal affairs and provided legal advice, research, information and recommendations on a wide variety of issues. He has also worked as in-house legal counsel for the Chinook Regional Health Authority and was a solicitor with the law firm, Peterson & Purvis LLP.

Jorgensen is a long-time Lethbridge resident, who attended the University of Lethbridge in 1984-1985, received his Bachelor of Arts in 1988 from the University of Alberta, and his Bachelor of Laws in 1991 from the University of Victoria. He is a member of the Law Society of Alberta and British Columbia, the Canadian Bar Association and the International Municipal Lawyers Association.

"Tim brings a varied skill set to the University of Lethbridge,” says Nancy Walker, Vice-President (Finance & Administration). “He has past experience working in large and diverse public sector organizations and has managed a wide range of topics so we look forward to having his expertise on campus.”

Walker adds that Jorgensen will oversee the legal affairs of the University and serve as legal advisor to the University’s Senior Executive, and the Board of Governors. Legal services includes contracts, administrative law, privacy law, employment and labour law and commercial issues.
